Scrambling is the middle ground between hill walking and rock climbing. The last ice age has left the British mountains with signs of it's existence in the form of ridges and broken rocky buttresses. With a head for heights and sure footing, what better way to explore these amazing features than to get hands on and let the adrenaline flow!
INTRODUCTION TO SCRAMBLING
LOCATION: North Wales/Lake District
DURATION: 2 days
Do you have a head for heights and exposure? If so, then read on! Scrambling in the mountains offers a new set of challenges and skills to master. Sometimes, just finding the start of the scramble can be the hardest part of the day! And once committed, retreat is often very difficult. But the challenge and excitement of venturing away from the footpath and picking your own line up through the rocks makes for an amazing adventure in the mountains.
This 2 day course is perfect for those who want to step up their mountain walking and become a true mountaineer! Ideally, you will have experience walking in the mountains with basic navigation skills and good fitness. Both days are full on mountain days on a classic scramble covering the following skills:
Movement techniques over steep ground
Safeguarding yourself and members of the group
Consolidating the skills learnt from day 1
