Intro to Multi-pitch Sport Climbing
This intro to multipitch sport climbing course is designed to get you ready to head abroad and climb long, multipitch sport routes in the sunshine! Multipitch sport routes are pretty rare in the UK. Our sport crags are 'small' (compared to Europe and the rest of the world), and usually a 60m rope will see you up and down most sport climbs in the UK. With that in mind, we do have some multipitch routes at an amendable grade to practice on before heading to places like Spain!
This is a 2 day course, which allows us plenty of time to go through all the skills you'll need to safely climb your first multipitch sport route. If you already posses some multipitch skills, possibly from a trad background, get in touch to enquire about a 1 day course.
WHO'S IT FOR?
-
This intro to multipitch sport climbing course is for climbers who have single pitch sport climbing experience and may have an upcoming trip planned abroad
-
Individuals who want to learn the skills to safely build belays, manage belays and transitions, and safely get off the route.
-
You may have been trad multipitch climbing or come from an indoor climbing background and want to learn the skills to second a more experienced partner abroad.
COURSE CONTENT:
On this learn to lead course, we will cover the following skills to get you off the ground:
-

Multipitch Sport climbing crags in the UK where we will be climbing:
-
Ansteys Cove
-
Portland (VERY small multipitch routes but great for this course!)
-
Wintours Leap
-
Cheddar Gorge (for mid-grade climbing in the 6's)
