4 DAY GUIDED SKYE MUNRO COURSE

YOUR CUILLIN MUNRO CHALLENGE:

Our 4-day Complete Cuillin Munro Bagging itinerary is designed for experienced hillwalkers and mountaineers who want to complete every Munro on the Cuillin Ridge with the support of an experienced local guide. Over four big mountain days, we combine efficient route planning, technical scrambling, exposed ridge travel and careful navigation to maximise your chances of completing this iconic challenge.

This is not simply about reaching summits — it is about experiencing the character of the Black Cuillin: the airy ridges, dramatic pinnacles, intricate route finding and unforgettable views that make Skye one of the finest mountain areas in the world.

With a private guide, the itinerary can be adapted around weather, conditions, group ability and mountain priorities, ensuring you get the best possible experience from your time on the ridge.

WHO'S IT FOR & PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE REQUIRED?

The Complete Cuillin Munro Bagging 4-day challenge is ideal for experienced hillwalkers and mountaineers who:

✓ Want to complete all of the Black Cuillin Munros
✓ Have experience with long mountain days and sustained ascent/descent
✓ Are confident scrambling over exposed terrain
✓ Are comfortable with heights and airy ridge environments
✓ Have previous experience with navigation in mountainous terrain
✓ Want the reassurance, efficiency and local knowledge of an experienced Cuillin guide

✓ Scramblers and mountaineers who have experience scrambling at grade 2 or above, either with friends, on a guided mountaineering course or have done my Intro to Mountaineering course and want to progress

This is not a traditional hillwalking challenge. The Cuillin Ridge involves complex route finding, exposed scrambling, steep descents, short sections of easy climbing and the use of a rope on some sections. A good level of fitness, stamina and confidence on rocky terrain are essential.

You do not need to be an expert climber, but you should be comfortable with exposure, heights and moving confidently on steep rock. The Inaccessible Pinnacle on Sgùrr Dearg involves a short technical climb, which your guide will protect using a rope.

If you are unsure whether your experience is suitable, get in touch before booking. We can discuss your previous mountain days, current ability and the best option to help you achieve your Cuillin Munro goals.

Complete Cuillin Munros – 4 Day Guided Itinerary

Completing all 11 Munros of the Black Cuillin is one of Scotland’s greatest mountain challenges. This 4-day itinerary breaks the ridge into logical sections, allowing us to experience the full variety of the Cuillin — from remote mountain corries and exposed scrambling to narrow ridges, classic summits and unforgettable views.

The itinerary is designed to provide a challenging but achievable progression through the ridge, with the most technical sections approached when energy levels are highest and a slightly easier third day allowing some recovery before the final northern summits.

Please note that the exact itinerary may be adjusted depending on weather, conditions, group pace and mountain forecasts.

  • Sgurr Dubh Mòr (944m)

  • Sgurr Alasdair (992m)

Approximate duration: 6–10 hours

Starting from Glenbrittle, we head into the remote southern Cuillin, gaining height through spectacular mountain scenery before reaching the ridge. The day takes in three magnificent Munros, including Sgurr Alasdair — the highest summit on Skye and the highest point of the entire Cuillin Ridge.

This is a fantastic introduction to the character of the Black Cuillin, combining rough mountain terrain, exposed scrambling and some of the most dramatic scenery in Scotland.

Highlights:

  • The remote and rugged southern Cuillin

  • Loch Coruisk and coastal views

  • Scotland’s highest island summit

  • Classic Cuillin scrambling terrain

Day 2 – The Inaccessible Pinnacle & Sgurr Mhic Choinnich

Munros:

  • Sgurr Dearg (986m) via the Inaccessible Pinnacle

  • Sgurr Mhic Choinnich (948m)

Approximate duration: 8 hours

This is one of the most iconic days in Scottish mountaineering. The route takes us to Sgurr Dearg and the famous Inaccessible Pinnacle — the only Munro summit in Scotland that requires a graded rock climb.

After climbing the Pinnacle, we continue onto Sgurr Mhic Choinnich, another spectacular summit perched high above the famous Coire Lagan. This day requires confidence on exposed ground, scrambling ability and careful movement on steep terrain.

Highlights:

  • The legendary Inaccessible Pinnacle

  • Technical scrambling and abseiling

  • Some of the finest ridge scenery in Britain

  • A true Cuillin mountaineering experience

After two bigger days on the ridge, this shorter itinerary provides a chance to recover while still experiencing some of the finest sections of the Cuillin. The route takes in three classic Munros on the central ridge, with dramatic scrambling, narrow ridges and incredible views along the length of the mountain chain.

Although shorter in distance, this remains a serious mountain day requiring careful route finding and confidence on exposed terrain.

The day finishes with Bruach na Frithe, providing a fitting conclusion to the journey and the completion of all 11 Cuillin Munros.

  • The dramatic northern Cuillin skyline

  • Classic scrambling and exposed ridges

  • Stunning views back along the completed route

  • Completing all 11 Munros of the Black Cuillin

Extend Your Cuillin Munro Challenge to 5 or 6 Days

While completing all of the Black Cuillin Munros in four days is achievable for strong and experienced mountain days, extending your trip to five or six days can provide a more relaxed and flexible experience.

The Cuillin Ridge is heavily influenced by weather and conditions, and having additional days available greatly increases your chances of completing the full objective. Extra days allow us to build flexibility into your itinerary, making use of the best weather windows while avoiding unnecessary pressure to continue in poor conditions.

An extended itinerary can include:

Weather contingency days — additional time to wait for suitable conditions if wind, rain, cloud or poor visibility affects progress.

Rest and recovery days — allowing you to recover between demanding ridge days and enjoy the experience at a more comfortable pace.

Skills development days — an opportunity to improve scrambling movement, rope skills, route finding or confidence on exposed terrain before tackling more technical sections of the ridge.

Additional mountain adventures — after completing the Munros, your remaining day can be used to explore more of Skye’s incredible mountains, undertake a classic scrambling route, or enjoy a bespoke mountain day chosen around your interests.

A longer itinerary is particularly recommended for those travelling from further afield, those who want the best possible chance of completing all 11 Cuillin Munros, or anyone who would prefer to experience the ridge without the pressure of consecutive long mountain days.

  • 4 Days — Fast & Focused: For experienced mountaineers wanting to maximise efficiency.

  • 5 Days — (£300 per day for 1:1) Recommended: Adds flexibility for weather and recovery.

  • 6 Days — (£300 per day for 1:1) Ultimate Experience: Allows rest days, skills coaching and extra adventures.

We can discuss the best itinerary for your goals, experience and available time when planning your trip.
