This Intro to Trad Course on Dartmoor or in Snowdonia is designed for those moving from sport climbing or indoor climbing to experience what trad climbing is all about and to become a competent second on trad climbs. You will learn about trad protection, trad climbing grades, attaching to belays, and topping out on a crag.

By the end of this course, you will have the confidence to go out with an experienced trad climber and second trad routes, know how to remove and rack climbing gear, attach to anchors, abseil independently and gained more experience through lots of climbing.

Instructor Tip:

"When seconding, remove the piece of gear with it still clipped into the rope on the quickdraw. This reduces the chance of you dropping it. Clip it to your gear loop using the carabiner clipped through the gear on the quickdraw (leaving the gear attached) and then unclip it from the rope. This also stops the gear hanging low and reduces the chances of it getting caught as you climb.  "
