Snowdonia Guided Mountaineering on Grade 2 & 3 Scrambles steps into more technical and exposed mountain terrain. These routes often involve steeper ground, more complex movement, and ropework.
This course is about managing risk effectively, moving with control, and understanding when and how additional safety measures are used.

Who Is This Course For?
This course is suited to those who:
Are confident on Grade 1 scrambles
Are comfortable with exposure
Want to progress into more technical scrambling
Wish to understand the use of ropes in scrambling terrain
Previous scrambling experience is essential for this level.
What Skills Will You Learn on a Snowdonia Guided Mountaineering Course?
On this course, you’ll develop:
Confident movement on steep rock
Understanding when ropework is appropriate
Basic roped scrambling techniques
Safe positioning on exposed ground
Improved decision-making in complex terrain
You’ll also gain insight into how experienced mountaineers manage this type of ground.
How the Day Runs (Public Courses)
Public Grade 2 & 3 Scrambles:
Start at 09:00
Finish around 16:00
Take place on carefully chosen, suitable routes
Progress steadily, with safety always prioritised
The focus is on quality movement and decision-making rather than speed.
Bespoke Grade 2 & 3 Scrambles
Bespoke days allow for:
Route choice based on your confidence and goals
Adjusted pace and intensity
Focus on specific techniques
These courses are ideal if you’re preparing for mountaineering, alpine routes, or more committing mountain objectives.

How Demanding Is the Course?
These are mentally engaging days requiring focus and concentration. Physically, expect sustained hands-on movement in steeper terrain, with frequent stops for instruction and assessment.
