Security on steep ground, Sharpitor, Dartmoor

Sometimes a day here and there just doesn't cut it when learning new skills. Instead, it might be easier to do an all intensive several days, combining all the elements in several big mountain days. What's better than learning to navigate whilst ticking off classic scrambles, summiting mountains and maybe even sleeping amongst the giants themselves!

All of my course can be combined to create a great package. Below are a few of the more popular ideas, but please feel free to contact me if you fancy some other options.

This course is to teach you rope techniques for use in EMERGENCY SITUATIONS ONLY, on steep ground and easy scrambles. It is not a course to teach you rope techniques for more advanced mountain scrambles. For advanced scrambling techniques requiring the use of ropes and climbing gear, please contact a member of the Association of Mountaineering Instructors (AMI).

These skills and techniques should hopefully never need to be used!

At some point in your mountaineering career, you may decide to head onto steeper ground for more of an adventure and a way to beat the crowds or even start to consider leading groups yourself and embarking on the Mountain Training Leadership awards. But with steeper grounds comes bigger risks and new skills to master to safeguard yourself and your group in emergencies.

This course is ideal for anyone who has experience scrambling on grade 1 terrain and wants to learn rope work for emergency situations, or for someone who is going through the Mountain Leader Award and is preparing for assessment.
